About Discord

Discord is a group-chatting platform originally created for gamers to communicate with each other in real time 24 hours a day, but is now used by different types of communities and has more than 250 million users. It allows voice and video chat, live streaming of games and programs, direct messaging. You can connect to YouTube and Spotify directly and it has become one of the favourite chat apps for teenagers.
Attention: Users should be aged 13 and over, but you are not asked your age when registering.
Within Discord, users can set up servers for different communities. Public servers are open to everyone and are regularly policed by Discord.
Problems: Private servers are meant to be by invite-only and this is where the problems start. Some of these private servers, particularly the gaming servers, have become breeding grounds for bad language, bullying and racism. Users do have the ability to block unwanted messages and friend requests, restrict the people who can join their server and turn on a filter to block explicit content in direct messages. But there is no way to stop children from joining servers where there is lewd chatter and content.
