Starting a conversation

To start a conversation with your kid, school is a commonly chosen topic. But very often when your kid comes home from school and you ask a question like: “How was your day today?” or “How was school today?” they will only come up with a very general answer such as “Okay” or “Fine” without providing any more specific information. If you insist they might find you inquisitive and refuse to reply (especially teenagers) so what about asking “What was your best moment today at school?” or “What did you like best in ….(name of the subject your kid really likes)?”
